This is the landmark Russian restaurant in Harbin crowned for one of top four western restaurants in 1980s. It used to be or still is a state owned restaurant, therefore, it seems there is a legacy for poor service.

The Huamei Western Restaurant is located in No.142, Central Avenue, Lidao District in Harbin. It has a long history. The restaurant assembles all the elite of the authentic Russian dishes. It mainly deals in the Russian cuisine. British Cuisine, French Cuisine, Italian Cuisine and some other cuisines can be found here. There are more than 40 famous dishes, such as, pork fillet with milk, chicken stewed in pot, shrimp, beef, mutton, fish roasted with milk, mixed shrimp, baked mutton in bunch, chicken cooked on iron plate.

Portman's Restaurant

Recommended by a Taiwan lady who is always right about good restaurants. It is more expensive but with good service and Russian food.

It might be hard to get a cab back from the giant ice world across the river in Harbin. My friend told me that the taxi driver charge more than 100 RMB for the trip back to the downtown in night. It should cost 10-20 RMB though. He walked back to the downtown area, it is COLD!
