For non-Chinese speakers who live in or visit China, these are common phenomena:
- You are lost and can't find the place where you are supposed to go. You have to frantically call or text your Chinese speaking friends or the call the restaurant or hotel themselves and have them guide you.
- You know the name of the place where you want to go, in English, but you don't know the Chinese name, and your taxi driver can't understand you.
- You are arriving in a Chinese city for the first time, and need to get basic accomodation, food, etc. without getting involved in anything shady.
PseudoLocal's objective is to document the mechanics of living and traveling in China, so that other English speakers need not be daunted by the above scenarios when they visit! Been to China? Live in China? We want your thoughts and information on this site.
Pseudolocal is a wiki, integrated with the Facebook Developers platform. Login (top right corner of the page) with your Facebook account and add or edit pages. When looking to edit, check out the following:
- Join our China Experts Google Group
- Wanted pages - We have no content on these topics and want some.
- All Pages - Feel free to add or edit any of the pages already existing.
- Categories - Browse our pages by categories and see if you stumble upon any topic appropriate for editing.
- You can add a page - See the Help:Contents page for guidance on how to add pages, and so much more.

PseudoLocal users can create a user page and link to their own website or post contact information if they wish. When logged in, you will be able to see your FirstNameLastName on the header of each page, and when you click on it you will create or edit your user page. Other than the FirstName and LastName provided by Facebook, PseudoLocal does not maintain any personal information about users, and disclosure is completely at the discretion of the user.
